The Regional Aerosol Model Intercomparison Project

RAMIP is an international multi-model experiment designed to quantify the role of regional aerosol emissions changes in near-term projections.

Status

RAMIP was initiated in 2022, and is gathering the first phase of simulations in 2023. RAMIP builds on CMIP6, and will have its core activities between the main CMIP6 and CMIP7 activities. Currently, nine modelling groups are participating. Full community data access is planned for January 1st 2025.

Our motivation

Our goal is to produce understanding relevant for both the scientific community and for stakeholders considering near-term emissions mitigation and adaptation policy.

Our work

We will deliver experiments designed to quantify the role of regional aerosol emissions changes in near-term projections.

What will RAMIP do?

We will enable an evaluation of the full range of potential influences of realistic and regionally varied aerosol emission changes on near-future climate.
